Why may a mutual fund family find it beneficial to offer 50 or 60 different stock mutual funds
The answer in the following: (Hint: The reader is not the correct identification.)
Answer by asnplayer5
Mutual funds offer an array of different types of investment strategy – some may be large cap, others may be small cap – some may be large value, others may be large blend. So a mutual fund family would offer 50-60 different mutual funds so that it can cater to a wide variety of investors. Some people in there early 30s would have a different asset allocation and investment strategy than a 50 year old. Therefore, they would probably buy different mutual funds – but they may be in the same family.

Money! The more funds they offer, assuming they know how to manage them, the more money they make in management fees. Fidelity and American Funds and T Rowe Price and Vanguard are raking in the dough. Have you done any calculations on the assets in their funds x the expense ratio. It comes out to billions annually. Talk about a cash generating machine.

If you have money you could set aside for your retirement, by all means you open a Roth IRA account at one of the brokerage firms in order to trade in stocks, bonds and/or mutual funds. There is a limit on how much you can contribute to Roth IRA; $ 5,000/yr if you are younger than 50 years old and $ 6,000 if you are older than 50.
As for investment advise on buying stocks, bonds and/or mutual funds, it’s better to ask one of the brokers at your brokerage firm rather than asking Yahoo Answerers.
